Lip Sync Video Evaluation
What Went Well
Overall, I'm quite pleased with how the product turned out. The lip syncing is consistent throughout most of the piece, and oftentimes the visuals on screen match up well to the soundtrack. Furthermore, there are a lot of quick cuts which fits the pop genre of the song, and the overall cheery and fast-paced tones of the genre. It was also good that we managed to get a lot of people involved so it wasn't just our group in the video, and there was a lot of variety of who and what was on screen. Moreover, I'm pleased of the multiple editing techniques used in the video, such as splitting the screen into 4 segments and changing the speed of some shots to make them fit into the shot (e.g. in the "alright" segment).
What Could Be Improved
There were some shots where the lip syncing wasn't completely accurate, and some people were slightly behind or ahead of the song, therefore if we were to do it again we would probably choose a slower song so that we could make the lip syncing more accurate. In addition, at the part towards the end of the second chorus of the song, where there's the main video track in the background and the three smaller tracks at the bottom, I would've liked to polish that section a bit to make it look cleaner and also include all of the members in the group in the main bit in the background in equal parts, instead of just focusing on the one or two members that it does.
New Skills/Roles
This video allowed us to explore some other tools in Sony Vegas Pro 11, such as the track motion tool which was used to position the video clips for the segmented shots, and we also made more use of speeding up video clips for this task. Furthermore, I was in front of the camera in this task, as opposed to last year where I was behind the camera, so I gained some experience in taking up the acting role in the task.
